Update: Hurricane Sandy LBI Long Beach Island NJ

I'm so thankful to still have power here at my apartment.
I'm hearing a lot of friends and family without power in the northeastern part of Pa.
I'm sure most of you have heard about the terrific storm Hurricane Sandy, and she still doesn't seem to be letting up.
My favorite vacation spot, and where I got engaged, Long Beach Island, NJ. is currently under water.
Atlantic City's boardwalk is under water and most of the casino's have 3 feet of water.
Two of my favorite places to go.

University closed their doors today and tomorrow. Something it never does, even with 10 feet of snow on the ground {ok, maybe not that much, but you get the idea}.

I have some photos to share from Long Beach Island that I found online.
It's so terribly sad, and my heart goes out to the families that live there and to the ones that didn't make it off the island. My heart also goes out to New York, I heard the levee just broke in Manhattan.

Hang in there Clam Shack!

Ship Bottom

This photo was taken in LBI June 2012 in Ship Bottom where we stayed on vacation.
A place where you can watch the sunset over the bay.
Keep in mind the gazebo on the right of this photo.

Here it is now, October 2012. Look to your right.

Here is a photo in Beach Haven in June 2012.

To your left is the same gazebo we sat under to eat Bay Village Pizza and Chowda Hut.

LBI June 2012, a beautiful sunset.

I do not take credit of the photos taken during the flood. I found them on google and facebook through various links. The photos from LBI in June 2012 are my photos.

My prayers are with everyone that is being affected by this time.

Glad to hear that you're safe. I'm so upset too- 3 of my favorite places to go- OCMD, AC, and NYC are all devastated.

I'm happy to hear you're safe and sound!! :) I want to move somewhere that's not gonna be near any hurricanes because I remember during Katrina (which is not too near) it was flooding!

Long Beach Island was completely breached in 1962. I have a booklet showing how the Atlantic went thru the island to the bay. There were a lot fewer homes on the island back in 1962.
